rehabilitation

Evidence-based injury rehab to help you overcome injury and get back to your best.

How We Approach
Injury Rehab

At Conroy Training we see injury rehab not as a hurdle but as a roadmap back to your best. Every injury tells a story, and we listen first – understanding what’s happened, what you’re capable of, and where you want to get to.

1. Assess + Test

Identify limitations and set benchmarks.

2. Plan

Clear diagnosis and milestones.

3. Build

Progressive rehab with purpose.

4. Re-test

Measure progress and adjust.

5. Return

Come back stronger and confident.

Conroy Injury Infographic

The Classic Rehab Journey

  • The client/patient gets injured or has recurring pain
  • Goes to the clinic to get treated (manual therapy)
  • Gets some therapeutic exercises (generic exercise sheet)
  • Told not to do anything painful or heavy (overhead lifting is ‘dangerous’)
  • Pain subsides, client/patient feels better
  • Gets the GO to return to activities / training / sports
  • Returns to number 1 and repeats

Bridging the Gap Between Rehab and Performance

Rehab shouldn’t stop at pain relief. It should continue until your body is capable of handling load, intensity and movement demands with confidence.

At Conroy Performance, injury rehab coaching focuses on rebuilding strength, movement quality and tolerance in a progressive, evidence-based way. This work sits alongside physiotherapy or medical care, helping translate rehab exercises into meaningful, functional strength.

The goal is not treatment, diagnosis or manual therapy. The goal is to help you move from “feeling better” to actually being ready to train, perform and live without constant setbacks.

Current evidence suggests a multimodal approach including manual therapy, structured exercise and patient education provides better outcomes.

Injuries We Commonly Support

Rehab coaching is tailored to the individual, but we regularly help people rebuild strength and confidence following:

  • Lower back pain and disc-related issues
  • Shoulder injuries and instability
  • Knee pain, including post-ACL or post-surgical rehab stages
  • Ankle and foot injuries
  • Hip pain and mobility limitations
  • Tendon-related issues (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff)
  • Recurring training-related niggles and overload injuries

This coaching is ideal if you’ve already completed, or are currently undergoing, physiotherapy and want structured support to return to training safely and sustainably.

Why Rehab Often Stops Too Early

For many people, rehab ends once pain settles and basic movement returns. At that point, you’re often discharged or left to “ease back in” on your own. While symptoms may improve, the underlying strength, capacity and resilience required for real-world movement are rarely fully rebuilt.

Without structured progression beyond early-stage rehab, the body is left underprepared for training, sport or everyday demands. This gap is where re-injury, setbacks and frustration commonly occur.

In-Person Packages

Our rehabilitation process is designed to provide clarity, structure and measurable progress from day one. Every rehabilitation pathway follows the same proven framework:

Testing isn’t an add-on. It’s built into every stage of the process, providing a clear roadmap from injury to full performance.

INJURY REHAB FAQS

Most rehab breaks down because it lacks structure. People are given generic exercises without clear benchmarks, progression, or a long-term plan. Without knowing where you’re starting—or where you’re going—it’s easy to plateau or regress.

We focus on three key things most programmes miss:

  • Baseline testing to understand exactly where you are
  • Progressive programming so you’re always moving forward
  • A clear roadmap so you know what success looks like and how to get there

You’re not guessing, you’re following a structured plan.

Baseline testing gives us objective data on your strength, mobility, control, and tolerance. Instead of relying on pain alone, we measure what you can actually do, so we can build a plan that’s specific to you and track real progress over time.

You’ll have clear markers and checkpoints throughout your programme. Progress isn’t random, it’s planned. You’ll know when to increase load, when to push, and when to hold back, all based on your data and performance.

That’s exactly who we help most. Often, previous rehab lacked progression or clear direction. We rebuild the process from the ground up, starting with proper assessment and creating a structured path forward.

Yes. You’ll leave every session knowing exactly what you’re working on and why. Your programme will map out your journey from your current state back to full performance, not just short-term pain relief.

No. Pain relief is just the first step. The goal is to restore full function, resilience, and confidence so you don’t end up back in the same position again.

By progressing you properly. We don’t rush stages or skip steps. Each phase builds on the last, ensuring your body can handle increasing demands before moving forward.

We work with a wide range of injuries, from acute issues to long-term problems that haven’t resolved with previous rehab. The common thread is that they benefit from structured, progressive programming.

It depends on your starting point and goals, but from day one, you’ll have a clear roadmap. Instead of vague timelines, we focus on hitting specific milestones that guide your progress.

In most cases, no. We adapt your training so you can keep moving safely while rehabbing. Completely stopping is rarely the best solution, structured modification is.

You can expect clarity, confidence, and measurable progress. Instead of wondering if what you’re doing is working, you’ll see and feel improvements backed by data.

Conroy Performance was a total game changer in preparing me for my Hyrox event. Dennis coached me through a structured 12-week Hyrox programme, complemented by in-person sessions leading up to race day. His coaching was high quality, motivating, well designed, and tailored to help me perform at my best. The programme was delivered via the Fitr app, which made it easy to follow. Each session was clearly laid out, with detailed programming that made tracking progress simple and kept me consistent and accountable throughout the 12 weeks. What really stood out was the ongoing support Dennis provided. Whether it was fine-tuning technique, staying on track, or answering questions, he was always responsive and genuinely invested in my success. I’d highly recommend Dennis and Conroy Performance to anyone serious about levelling up their fitness or getting race ready. Whether you're training for Hyrox or just aiming to boost overall performance, you're in excellent hands.

Immediately after getting a ticket for my first Hyrox, I contacted Dennis regarding his 12 week Hyrox programme as I wanted a specific plan geared towards the event. We decided to also incorporate some 1 on 1 sessions alongside the programme. These were excellent at addressing some technique concerns I had with certain stations, running pace, nutrition advice and also incorporating extra exercises around a shoulder injury I was carrying. I felt very well prepared at the end of the 12 week programme and thoroughly enjoyed my first Hyrox. I am already eying up a half marathon and perhaps another Hyrox by the end of the year. I would 100% recommend Dennis as a coach not just for Hyrox but anything strength and conditioning related. He is very reassuring, proactive, informative and shows a genuine interest in getting the best out of you. I had some nerves beforehand and he very much put me at ease and assured me that I was ready and had put the necessary work in.

Dennis is a knowledgeable and proactive personal trainer. He looks to tailor training and rehabilitation programmes around the client's needs and requirements. He recognised my Hip condition as FAI (Femoroacetabular impingement) ahead of medical diagnosis. He created a programme to help me manage the condition, allowing me to avoid a potential medical procedure.

My daughter has been training with Dennis at Conroy Performance following shoulder surgery, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! From the first session, it was clear that he is highly knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely invested in her recovery. Dennis has helped her regain and improve strength and mobility and boosted her confidence throughout the process, which has been reassuring for both of us. Beyond the technical expertise, what sets Conroy Performance apart is the supportive and encouraging environment they create. Rehab can be tough, but Dennis' positive energy and motivation have made all the difference.

I reached out to Dennis for help in creating a more structured training plan, as I’d been dealing with injuries that were limiting my progress. I wasn’t sure how to move forward, but Dennis provided the guidance I needed. During the initial consultation, we set the groundwork for my bespoke rehab online coaching. Three months later I’m trusting the process and I’m on my way to being injury free. My training now has clear structure, pushes me out of my comfort zone without being overwhelming, and most importantly I’m having fun again! I check in with Dennis on a weekly basis, which ensures everything stays on track, and he’s always available to answer any questions I have. Thank you Dennis (Conroy Performance)! I highly recommend his training.

Dennis and Conroy Performance has been nothing short of amazing. He’s pushed me to the next level of my CrossFit and really helped my confidence grow in the 3 months I’ve been training with him. Dennis’s online coaching really is bespoke as he listens to all the feedback I give and changes my plan accordingly. An example of this is when I injured my shoulder early in the program and he changed it to help rehab my shoulders whilst still improving and training as much as I could. I would recommend Dennis to anyone who wants to improve their CrossFit and take their training to the next level! I’m very excited to continue working with Dennis and looking forward to compete next year!

I’ve been training with Dennis for the past seven months, aiming to improve my strength and specific CrossFit skills. I also sought a tailored plan to push me out of my comfort zone and support my participation in various events throughout the year. Dennis is highly professional and communicates clearly, making it easy to understand and meet my needs. I would highly recommend him if you’re looking for a top-tier coach.

Meet Your Coach

I’m Dennis, a rehab and performance coach helping driven, ambitious athletes unlock higher levels of fitness, resilience, and confidence.

My journey through training, competition, and coaching across multiple disciplines has shown me what truly drives long-term progress. It’s not extreme workouts or quick fixes. It’s consistency, smart structure, and an understanding of how the body actually adapts over time.

Over the years, I’ve seen too many athletes held back by poor programming, rushed progressions, or training that didn’t respect their body. That experience is what pushed me to build a coaching approach focused on sustainability, performance, and long-term development, not burnout.

At Conroy Performance, I combine evidence-based training, structured programming, and a strong emphasis on recovery to help athletes move better, perform stronger, and stay in the game longer. Every plan is built around you, your goals, your lifestyle, and your current ability, not a one-size-fits-all template.

Whether your goal is to return from injury, improve performance, or simply feel stronger and more capable in your body, my role is to give you clarity, direction, and the confidence to execute your training with purpose.

No fluff. No guesswork. Just intentional coaching built for real progress.

If you’re ready to train with clarity, push your limits, and build performance that lasts, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
