How Training in the Heat Changes the Cost of Your Sessions

When the temperature climbs, the same run, ride, or lifting session can feel like someone secretly turned the dial up. The pace is the same, the weights are the same, but your heart rate is higher; you are sweating buckets, and the effort feels bigger than it should. That is not you getting less fit overnight; that is the extra cost of heat.

  • Accept that slower paces and lighter weights can still be big wins in the heat
