Injury Rehabilitation
FAQs

Recovering from injury can feel frustrating and uncertain, especially when you are motivated to perform at your best. This FAQ page is designed to give you clear, straightforward answers about how injury rehabilitation works at Conroy Performance, so you know what to expect at every stage.

Whether you are returning to sport, rebuilding strength after a setback, or aiming to stay injury-free long term, you will find answers here on how we support your progress through evidence-based, personalised training and coaching.

Understanding Our
Injury Rehabilitation Approach

What is injury rehabilitation at Conroy Performance?

Injury rehabilitation here focuses on helping you return to pain-free, confident movement, while building strength and resilience for long-term performance. Training is tailored to your specific injury, your sport or activity, and your current capacity.

We provide coaching and training, not medical treatment. Injury rehabilitation at Conroy Performance is centred on exercise-based strategies, performance coaching, and strength work. We recommend you consult an appropriate healthcare professional for diagnosis and medical management.

Injury rehabilitation is for driven and ambitious athletes and active individuals who want structured support to return to training, competition, or high-level performance after injury. You might be currently limited by pain, coming back after time off, or wanting to reduce the risk of recurring issues.

We work with a wide range of sport- and training-related injuries and movement limitations by using progressive strength training and performance-focused exercise. If you are unsure whether your situation is appropriate, it is recommended that you seek medical clearance and then discuss your goals with us.

What You Can Expect From the
Process

How does the injury rehabilitation process start?

You begin with an assessment where we learn about your injury history, training background, current symptoms, and goals. We then look at how you move in relevant tasks and exercises to understand what you can do comfortably and where your main limitations sit right now.

Following the assessment, you receive an individualised plan that outlines key focus areas, recommended exercises, loading progressions, and performance targets. This plan is adjusted over time as you improve, with careful management of increases in training load, which aligns with evidence on how workload progression influences injury risk in athletes (the training-injury prevention paradox model). (Gabbett, 2016)

Timeframes vary depending on the nature of your injury, your training history, and how consistently you can follow the plan. Instead of fixed timelines, we focus on clear progress markers such as improved strength, increased training volume, and more confident movement in your sport.

Where appropriate, we aim to keep you training around the injury so you can maintain as much strength, fitness, and skill as possible. The exact approach depends on your injury and guidance from your healthcare professional where relevant.

Key benefits of the process include:

  • A clear, structured plan instead of guesswork
  • Training that reflects your sport, lifestyle, and current abilities
  • Regular adjustments as your symptoms and strength change
  • Support to rebuild confidence in previously painful movements
  • Focus on long-term performance, not just short-term symptom relief

In-Person, Online, and Performance Testing
FAQs

What is different about in-person injury rehabilitation sessions?

In-person personal training sessions allow us to coach your technique in real time, adjust exercises on the spot, and provide immediate feedback. This can be especially helpful when you are learning to load an injured area again or returning to more complex movements.

With online coaching, your programme is fully personalised to your injury, training environment, and schedule. You receive structured sessions, clear exercise instructions, and ongoing updates based on your feedback and progress, and this approach is supported by findings that real-time telerehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions can be effective and comparable to standard practice. (Cottrell et al., 2017)

Performance testing helps identify current strengths and limitations, monitors how you adapt to training, and informs progressions. For injured athletes, it can highlight asymmetries, capacity gaps, and readiness for higher-level demands, which fits with expert guidance that return decisions should consider more than just time since injury, including progression toward participation, sport, and performance (consensus recommendations on return to sport). (Ardern et al., 2016)

You can use a blend of in-person and online coaching where appropriate. Some athletes prefer more in-person support early on, then transition to primarily online once they are more confident and self-directed with their training plan.

How Conroy Performance Supports Your
Long-Term Progress

What makes the rehabilitation approach at Conroy Performance different?

The focus is not only on getting you out of pain but on helping you return to, and build on, your previous performance level. Training is always individualised, aligned with evidence-based principles, and specific to the demands you actually face in your sport or activities.

Your programme is regularly reviewed based on your feedback, training logs, and performance in key exercises or tests. When you are ready, intensity and complexity are gradually increased so you continue to build capacity without rushing the process.

Many athletes choose to continue with performance-focused coaching once they are no longer limited by injury. This allows you to keep building strength, develop higher-level qualities, and reduce the likelihood of the same issues returning by addressing underlying weaknesses and capacity gaps, which is consistent with evidence that exercise-based training programmes can reduce sports injury risk. (Lauersen et al., 2014)

No, the same principles apply whether you compete or simply take your training seriously. If you are committed to improving, want structured support, and care about long-term performance, the injury rehabilitation services at Conroy Performance are designed for you.

Client Testimonials

Meet Your Coach

I’m Dennis, a rehab and performance coach helping driven, ambitious athletes unlock higher levels of fitness, resilience, and confidence.

My journey through training, competition, and coaching across multiple disciplines has shown me what truly drives long-term progress. It’s not extreme workouts or quick fixes. It’s consistency, smart structure, and an understanding of how the body actually adapts over time.

Over the years, I’ve seen too many athletes held back by poor programming, rushed progressions, or training that didn’t respect their body. That experience is what pushed me to build a coaching approach focused on sustainability, performance, and long-term development, not burnout.

At Conroy Performance, I combine evidence-based training, structured programming, and a strong emphasis on recovery to help athletes move better, perform stronger, and stay in the game longer. Every plan is built around you, your goals, your lifestyle, and your current ability, not a one-size-fits-all template.

Whether your goal is to return from injury, improve performance, or simply feel stronger and more capable in your body, my role is to give you clarity, direction, and the confidence to execute your training with purpose.

No fluff. No guesswork. Just intentional coaching built for real progress.

If you’re ready to train with clarity, push your limits, and build performance that lasts, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
